Title: Energy Self Assessment - Potatoes Storage Self Assessment Tool
Primary Authors: United States Department of Agriculture- National Resources Conservation Service
Published: 2008
Abstract: Studies have shown that more energy efficient technologies can yield energy savings between 25% and 65%, reduced electrical demand, and decreased shrinkage (water loss) of the potatoes. Adjustable speed drives can be retrofitted in existing facilities and typically have a simple payback of 3 years or less. The Potato Storage Self Assessment Tool will estimate the potential energy savings based on the storage period, fan horsepower ratings and number of fans.
